From Insight to Prototype: A Product Design Framework that De-Risks Biotech & MedTech Innovation
Paul Klock, Design Director, and Alex Kober, President - KEK Design
Turning a promising scientific insight into a viable product requires more than engineering—it demands rigorous product design, clarity of user need, and fast, iterative learning. This session presents a product-design-led development framework that integrates early user research, rapid prototyping, and structured assumption testing to systematically reduce project risk. Learn how to translate informal ideas into formal design requirements, how to run fast prototyping loops that reveal feasibility constraints early, and how user-centered evaluations can prevent expensive late-stage changes. We’ll show how product design decisions about form, interaction, materials, and ergonomics are driven by user needs and technical feasibility and how aligning these early dramatically improves downstream outcomes.

Federal Procurement Consolidation
The Administration is leading a critical government-wide effort to modernize federal procurement, which includes the consolidation of government-wide spending for domestic common goods and services. We are pleased to invite you to the official kickoff training for this initiative.
This effort, in support of Executive Order 14240 and OMB Memo M-25-31, is designed to drive significant savings, boost efficiency, eliminate duplication, and strengthen mission-critical contracting support across all agencies.
The kickoff training will provide a deep dive into the two foundational workstreams:
Workstream 1: Consolidated Contracts
Focuses on maximizing efficiency by aligning with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Revolutionary Overhaul, where agencies’ default is to use GSA government-wide contracts and shared services first (e.g., GO.gov, Fleet, Global Supply, GWAC, MAS, etc.).
Training will cover streamlined ordering processes, reducing time on market research, and maintaining agency control/flexibility.
Workstream 2: Centralized Acquisition
This voluntary track offers agencies a full range of additional acquisition support through GSA-led contracting services.
The training will detail the two available services:
Office of Centralized Acquisition Services (OCAS) for common goods and services
Assisted Acquisition Services (AAS) for complex, critical acquisitions.

Creating documentation that reflects real operations, not aspirational intent
Establishing clear linkage between requirements, controls, and evidence
Avoiding common documentation gaps that trigger findings or rework
